A Day Inside Our Dublin Portrait Studio: What to Expect
People ask what actually happens on a portrait day. What does it feel like? How long does it take? Here is a full look at a session at our Dublin studio, from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave.
Before you arrive: the consultation
Every session starts with a conversation before the shoot day. We talk about you: what you are hoping for, what makes you nervous, what you love about yourself, and what you want to feel when you see your finished portraits. This conversation shapes everything that comes after.
When you arrive: hair and makeup
The first person you meet at the studio is our makeup and hair artist. You will be seated comfortably, offered a coffee or tea, and the session begins. Our artist takes the time to understand your face, your preferences, and what you are going for. The goal is to bring forward the most polished, confident version of you. This part of the day takes around 60 to 90 minutes, and most clients say it is one of their favourite parts.
The shoot
When we step in front of the camera, I take the lead. You will never stand there not knowing what to do. I direct your posture, your angles, your expression, and the energy of each frame. We move through different setups and different outfits. Most people laugh more than they expect to. The studio is a private space. There is no one walking in and out. It is just you, me, and our team.
The reveal
This is often the most memorable part of the day. We sit down together and I show you your images on a proper screen. Seeing yourself through the lens of someone who was completely focused on bringing forward your best can be a powerful experience. Many clients find it unexpectedly moving. Most cannot believe how good they look.
How long does it take?
From arrival to the end of the reveal, expect to spend around four to five hours with us. Sessions vary depending on what is included. Clients regularly describe it as one of the most enjoyable things they have done for themselves in years.
